Both of my parents suffered from dementia and Alzheimer's. I believe a project like this would have been helpful and helped reduce stress. I often hear of "silver alerts" for people who have wandered off and it is frightening, not only for the individual, but for the family as well.
The Brunswick County Sheriff's Offers a FREE service called Project Lifesaver for Brunswick County residents who are caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's, dementia, autism or other conditions that may make them likely to wander away from caregivers, or who have difficulties communicating with rescuers. Project Lifesaver bracelets can help rescuers find a loved one who has wandered away.
Requirements for the Program
*Live within Brunswick County
*Be diagnosed by a certified physician as having a disorder that may cause wandering
*History of wandering away from caregiver
