The snazzy ride I didn’t want to give back

Today was a sad day for me…

Nothing bad happened; but I was sad, nonetheless, turning in the rental car I’d been driving for the last week.

You see, last week I went to Hertz to rent a car for a trip to NY. We have vehicles, but thought it would nice to put miles on someone else's vehicle and get something a little bigger.

When I arrived at Wilmington International Airport last Tuesday, I was expecting to pick up a sedan. I arrived at the counter and the lady at the desk says I need to wait because she doesn't have any clean vehicles available. I am not in a hurry, so that is fine by me. I give her my cell number and wait outside. She calls and I happily go to the counter. She says "We don't have any full size cars, so you are getting an SUV". "Sweet!" I remark.

Much to my dslight, when I get to parking spot #5 there is a white Land Rover Discovery with a black top waiting for me! This is my EXACT dream car, one that I have been admiring from afar for quite some time. To say it was so much fun to drive would be an understatement - it was fast, zippy and oh so comfortable.

Today, I drove back to the same airport, turned in the keys, and now I am a little sad. I didn’t want to give it back! To add insult to injury, I get picked up by my husband in his SUV that I swear is only running on 3 of 4 cylinders! She is not zippy or comfortable!!

But life goes on. I never expected to fall in love with a rental car…
