Mark Twain once said "buy land, they are not making it anymore". Have you been looking for a piece of land to build your dream house or maybe even make a small subdivision? Look no further! I have a few options this week that are amazing!! Every one of them is in the X flood zone, which means flood insurance is not required. All are on municipal sewer, which means no perk test and worry of having to put a septic system in.
The options in purchasing land vary greatly. Some people want to be very rural, some want a small plat in a subdivision or in the middle of town. What is appealing to one person, may not be appealing to another.
However, there are some things to consider when looking at land in Brunswick County, North Carolina, or I imagine anywhere along the coast. One big thing people look at is whether or not it is in a flood zone. Another big item to check out is whether municipal sewer is available or if a septic is required. When looking at installing a septic system, the land must perk. You will need to apply for a permit from the county, they will come out and survey the land and let you know how large of a septic can be installed, if any. This may prevent you from building that 5 bedroom home you were hoping to build. Are you in a woodpecker protected zone?
